Our
Company History
Songer Whitewater launched its first commercial rafting
trip on the New River in 1978. The company, which
was started when whitewater rafting in West Virginia
was in its infancy, was named after founders Gary
Sontheimer and Jon Gerwick.
What began as a hobby for Gary and John has become
a labor of love for its current owners, Len and Susie
Hanger. Len and Susie have turned Songer Whitewater
into a thriving family owned outfitter by providing
quality whitewater rafting trips and the best in customer
service. Songer Whitewater would like to thank the
thousands of friends, family and guests who have made
it possible for us to celebrate our 28th season of
West Virginia whitewater rafting.

Our
Facilities
Songer offers many things at our 100-acre basecamp
facility. Tent camping, bunkhouses, rustic cabins,
shower facilities and a dinner pavilion are just the
basics (for a complete menu, click here). Volleyball,
horseshoes and our nine-hole disc golf course add
to our amenities. Also, our campground is pet-friendly,
all pets must be kept on a leash.
Take a stroll through the woods, sit around a cozy
campfire, join us on the deck to watch your videos,
view the day's rafting pictures or just hang out with
our staff and guests.

while our high adventure whitewater rafting trips
are outfitted in 12 foot 4/6 person rafts. Our fleet

all of our rafts are self-bailing, highly maneuverable
and designed to give you the best ride possible.
