What If It Rains?
All trips run rain or shine....afterall, you will be wet all day anyhow. For current weather information and forecasts, click the weather image to the right.

What Size Rafts Do You Use?
We use top quality AIRE brand rafts. Our standard trips use a 15 foot, 8 person raft while our high adventure trips are outfitted in 12 foot 4/6 person rafts. Our fleet of rafts are maintained to the highest standards and all of our rafts are self-bailing, highly maneuverable and designed to give you the best ride possible.

What Is a Duckie?
A duckie is an inflatable kayak which we can include, at no additional charge, on any of our Upper or Middle New River trips. These are easy to use, maneuverable and provide hours of fun and excitement.

How Many Do I Need To Make a Reservation?
If we already have a trip scheduled you can come with as many or as few as you wish. If a trip is not already scheduled for the day or section you wish to raft, we ask that you have a minimum group size of 4. Please call for availability, 1-800-356-7238. We will do everything possible to accommodate you and your group, no matter how big or small.

How Many In a Raft or Duckie?
Our rafts are made for up to 8 paddlers and a guide with our high adventure rafts accommodating 4 paddlers on the Gauley River and 6 on the New River. Our duckies are constructed for both one and two paddlers.

Who Can Raft? How Old Do I Have To Be?
Just about anybody can go rafting with us. Our minimum ages vary depending upon the type of trip you desire. Our Upper and Middle New River trips have a minimum age of 6, Lower New and Lower Gauley trips have a minimum age of 12 and our Upper Gauley trips have a minimum age of 16. We ask that all paddlers be in reasonably good physical condition. If you are unsure if you are physically fit, please consult your physician.

How Long Is The Trip?
Each of our full day trips are on the water for 5-6 1/2 hours with half day (express trips) being on the water for about 3-3 1/2 hours. See individual trip descriptions for approzimate trip times. Varying water conditions and other factors beyond our control can make these times run either slightly longer or shorter.

What Is For Lunch?
Lunch is included with all of our full day rafting trips. A riverside, deli-style, lunch will be set-up by your guides. It is a build your own sandwich with varying deli meats, cheeses and condiments. Fresh fruit, dessert, chips and cold drinks are also provided.

What Should I Wear?
During spring and fall months you must be prepared for varying weather conditions. Remember: DO NOT wear cotton. We recommend, wool, polyester fleece or other synthetic fiber materials which stay warm when wet. During the summer a simple bathing suit, t-shirt and sunscreen suffice. Please remember to wear secured footwear, old tennis shoes or sandals work great. Songer does make wetsuits available for rent on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Do You Have a Campground?
Yes, we have a spacious wooded campground. Our campground is located adjacent to our check-in area and outfitter store. Tent camping and rustic cabins are available, each site has a fire ring, nearby picnic tables and use of our shower house. Currently we do not offer RV hookups, however, please call and we will gladly give you the phone number of nearby RV park which does.

Do You Sell Firewood?
Yes, you may purchase bundles of firewood in our outfitter store.

Where Can I Find Guardianship Forms?
We have our forms online for your convenience. Using the free Adobe Acrobat Reader, you can download and print guardianship forms, tax exempt forms and our group organizer kit. Visit our download center to view these forms. Or you can call our office toll-free, 1-800-356-7238, and we will gladly mail them to you.
